The human senses are really something aren’t they? I’ve always been so fascinated by their power. To heal, to frighten, to soothe, to ache. I consider myself so fortunate to have all five of mine firing on all cylinders. As a visual learner, sight is critical for me. I need order, symmetry and for projection lines to make what I see complete. Anything off feels, well, off. That doesn’t mean I’m ‘Modrian all day long’, not at all. But I find beauty in everything I can see. Juxtaposition, hard lines, soft curves. It’s all about balance for me. Sound is also incredibly important to me, its power to change me is incredible. I find myself often working best when I'm writing or doing research with a Hotel Lounge playlist. When it's time to really crank on some designs, old school metal it is. I craft meals by taste, not recipe. I consider myself a foodie, not the trendy I-take-pics-of-all-my-food kind, but rather I’ll build something unique with what we have in the pantry and will always pick something new, flavorful and intriguing at restaurants. Because not only I am genuinely curious about the ingredients but it’s the blend that makes it magical. Interestingly, the most notable for me is smell. I’ve always been highly sensitive. Friend’s joke I can smell a bagel coming out of the oven 3 miles away. Though, it can often conjure up memories good and bad for me. The smell of whiskey is bittersweet. Not because I overindulged, but because it is what reminds me of my grandmother, who always had a small plastic cup of it never leaving her side. And finally there is feel. Do you ever drive to your local Joanne’s fabrics just walk up and down the aisle and feel every roll just to relax? No? Well I guess it’s just me then. I touch everything (sorry germaphobes). I need to have my nerves tingled and piqued. Cashmere makes my eyes itch but I still have a closet full because I love how it feels against my skin. And don’t even get me started about nature. Actually, let’s go there soon.
