Years ago, I signed up for a Masterclass taught by the incredibly inspirational Elaine Welteroth called Build your Career Blueprint. I got sucked in. I wrote copious notes, followed all her advice and was incredibly inspired by the notion that you are in complete control of your own destiny. She talked about understanding your Zone of Genius and creating a Mind Map. As a visual learner, I loved this idea and made mine straight away (but in erasable ink just in case). Since then, I have had my worksheets hanging in my home office. I refer to them often. They are a simple yet effective reminder of why I love what I do and where I want to be. Curiously, I haven’t erased anything yet, but find myself adding to it all the time.
In the center of my Mind Map (the hub) is my purpose which is “Creating environments where people belong”. And one of the spokes shooting out of it in what I call a “bucket-hub” was Work Design Magazine.
As an avid learner, researcher and insatiably curious person, I pour through Work Design Mag every day, usually starting off with my morning coffee on their Instagram. The diversity of thought, the global perspectives, the unbiased commentary. And if I’m being honest, they had me at Office Tours. But I digress. Anyway, once again, those stars aligned, or the universe called, or whatever you believe. Bob Fox, the founder and editor of Work Design Mag reached out a few weeks ago after seeing my keynote at IHAF and asked if I was interested in being a guest on their video podcast called WTF is Happening to the Office? I nearly jumped out of my not-very-ergomonic-desk-chair! WOW! And YES please!
Today it just launched. In our discussion (which could have gone on far longer than 50 min) we discuss workplace strategies for success, why are we still having the RTO discussion, the amazing tech that’s out there for workplaces and should I rename my title to Workplace Environments?
Check it out! Would love your thoughts, humbly appreciate any feedback, and as always, many thanks.
